uPVC Sliding Sash
|
Sash windows are very popular on period properties with their traditional design and classic appeal. The original timber sash windows were used in houses from around the late 1700’s to 1950; they were widely used in Victorian houses where a combination of pulleys weights and springs allowed you to operate the window. The sash window design was aesthetically pleasing to the eye and was very practical as it allowed for excellent ventilation whilst maintaining simplicity for ease of cleaning both inside and outside the window. However the old timber sash windows were very draughty and not great heat insulators. The great news is that it is possible to upgrade older style sash windows to get both the classical look with the efficiency of modern double-glazing. The modern sash window is made of high quality PVCu and has all the benefits of double-glazing whilst still providing the classic beauty of the Victorian era. The modern sash window has the added benefit of being low maintenance with sprung counter balances, which are much better than the old iron weights, which moved on a waxed cord and were always prone to breaking. More information on our sliding sash window products can be found at www.masterframe.co.uk The modern sash window is specifically designed never to stick or rattle and will never need painting. Each sash can be tilted inwards to allow for ease of cleaning and our lockable catches ensure for safety and security.
